Program Description

Event Details

Join us in our newest art series, Artistic Encounters! In this monthly program, instructor Jennifer will guide us through some art history and then lead us in creating our own works of art.

Artist Encounters gives a February nod to the LOVE of art with American artist, Jim Dine. This Cincinnati native has had over 300 solo exhibits during the span of his career. His work is in permanent collections at galleries such The Chicago Art Institute, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Guggenheim, and Tate Gallery, to name just a few. He is known for using familiar symbols and has created a vocabulary out of subjects that have a child-like appeal.

In our February class we will look at some art movements Dine has been associated with over the years, and explore the diversity of his talent. With inspiration from Mr. Dine, we’ll create our own expressive heart on canvas using acrylic paint.

Attendees must be a Mammen Family Public Library card holder. Please include your library card number on the registration form below so that we can confirm your registration.
