May 17th Class: Plant-Based Cooking
Plant-based cooking goes beyond vegetarian and vegan diets as more people are trying to reduce their meat consumption. Let's look inside the rise of plant-based eating, including how it became so popular, what options are out there, and how you can get started with this lifestyle.
What to expect in this cooking class:
This class is a place where curious home chefs and their families can learn new cooking skills and grow confidence in the kitchen. Our instructor Kristyn will verbally guide patrons through every step - starting from prepping ingredients, cooking steps until their dishes are complete and plated. She will be cooking alongside them, sharing instructions, tips and tricks throughout class.
This live class is your time to ask questions, ask for feedback, learn a little something and most importantly, have fun!
How to prepare for class:
- Registrants will receive copies of the recipes that will be covered in this class as well as the Zoom link to join the class before the class date.
- For class, you will simply purchase ingredients and gather your kitchen equipment from the provided recipes. For a more relaxed class, Kristyn recommends you prep the ingredients ahead of time (chopping, measuring). This is not required, however, as Kristyn will guide you through every step of preparation. Kitchen tools will be bolded in each recipe.
- You should shop for ingredients intuitively. If there are any ingredients featured in this recipe that aren't your favorite or are not available in your local market, not to worry! You should have the ingredients you enjoy or ingredients you were able to source available for class and let Kristyn know during the class what you do have on hand for your dish. Kristyn will guide attendees through the preparation and cooking steps.
- Before class starts, it's important that everyone have a solid internet connection and limited background noises and distractions. Participants will be muted as they come in and can come on camera or stay off. The program will start promptly and be recorded.
After the live class ends, registrants will receive a link to watch a recording of the class, which will be available for 30 days.
This class is part of Classroom Kitchen's Spring Cooking Series being offered by Mammen Family Public Library. Check out the final online class in this series being offered on June 14 (Summer Eats).
