Program Description

Event Details

Have you ever wanted to work with leather to make a customized wallet, purse, or keychain? Well, you can do that with all the neat machines in the Mammen Family Public Library's Makerspace!

Join us in this two-part series as we learn three basic leatherworking techniques: cutting, stamping, and sewing.

Along the way, we will make use of the Glowforge machine (a laser engraver) to cut out our pieces and prep them for sewing. Attendees will walk away from this program with their very own one-of-a-kind embossing stamp that they can later come back and use on their next leather working project at the library!

In this program will be using natural oil-tanned cowhide leather for this project.

This is a 2-part series, attendees must be able to make it to both class dates.

  • Class 1 - Wednesday, April 10th, 10:00am-12:00pm: We will be learning about leatherworking and creating our designs. After the class, library staff will print the custom designs so they are ready before the the next class.
  • Class 2 - Wednesday, April 17th, 10:00am-12:00pm: We will be stamping our designs onto our leather pieces and finishing them.

By filling out the registration form, you will be registered to attend both the class sessions.
