Program Description

Event Details

You and your Makerspace-faring cohorts will embark on a 4-part journey through the Makerspace exploring space age equipment for modern creations. Learn to use computer design software, 3D printers, laser engravers and automatronic cutting and drafting machines (Cricuts and CNC router) to forge memorable Makerspace merch for the rest of your innovative forays. Come Autumn you will be ready to use the Makerspace to design mugs, totes, aprons, t-shirts, hats, tags, puzzles, engravings, automated art, and 3D rendered prototypes.

This is a great course for those curious about and new to the library's Makerspace. You will learn about the various equipment available for use in the library's Makerspace, as well as the machines' capabilities. Attendees will also get hands-on training to complete a few simple pre-designed projects.

While no previous experience with the Makerspace machines is required for this course, attendees should be comfortable learning computer software and using technical skills to operate machinery.

This four-part series meets on the following Saturdays: June 17, July 1, July 15, July 29. In order to get the most out of this course, we encourage registrants to attend all four class sessions; however, if you can't make it to one of the sessions please reach out ahead of time to maker@mfplibrary.org to arrange an alternate date to cover the class material.

Attendees must be a library card holder in order to participate in this class and to use makerspace equipment. Please include your library card number on the registration form below so that we can confirm your registration for this class.
