Program Description
Event Details
Hear from our friends from Texas Parks and Wildlife about how you can take part in the annual Great Backyard Bird Count (Feb. 17-20, 2023). Each year, volunteers throughout the country count birds and report their findings. Data gathered through the Great Backyard Bird Count helps document the presence of bird species in our area and gathers information that can contribute to bird conservation efforts. Join us in learning about and participating in this annual event. No previous birding experience is necessary!
We'll listen to a short presentation and then practice some birding skills, including the use of binoculars, field guides, and the eBird app for reporting sightings. This portion of the program will be outdoors (weather permitting), so please dress accordingly. Bring a phone or smart device with you to the program so you can download the eBird app and set up an account.
