Program Description

Event Details

Join us for a two-part introduction on how to use a Glowforge, a laser engraving and cutting machine. In this program, you will learn the basics of using a Glowforge, how to design a project compatible with the Glowforge, and how to make that design come to life. We will be practicing by designing and creating a clock, which you will get to take home at the end of the program.

The first part of this program will be a class on Thursday, November 17th from 5:30pm-7:30pm, when we will introduce you to the Glowforge and work on your clock design. For the second part of the program, you will schedule an individual appointment with one of the library's makerspace specialists to come in and use the Glowforge to create the clock face that you designed! At the end of the appointment, you will get to take home the clock that you designed and made.

After completion of this two-part program, you will be certified to use the library's Glowforge, available by appointment.

While you do not need to have previous experience with any specific computer software for this class, you will need to be comfortable using a laptop computer and have a general understanding of basic computer software.
