Program Description
Event Details
Hear from our friends from Texas Parks and Wildlife about how you can take part in the annual Christmas Bird Count. Each year, volunteers throughout the country count birds and report their findings. Data gathered through the Christmas Bird Count helps document the presence of bird species in our area and gathers information that can contribute to bird conservation efforts. Join us in learning about and participating in this holiday tradition!
We'll learn some bird identification basics, how to report your findings using the eBird app, and how to attract birds using suet feeders. We'll even have supplies and materials available for you to construct a suet feeder to take home. No previous birding experience is necessary!
Once you've completed this session, you'll be ready to report your findings on Christmas Day. You can report your findings from wherever you are or visit nearby Guadalupe River State Park to contribute to their bird tracking efforts.
