Artist Biography

I was born in San Antonio in the early 70’s.  I spent my entire formative year there and was always creating in my room.  The first art class I ever took was Art 1, at Clark High School my junior year.   Mr. Peavy was the person who inspired me to become an art teacher; I wanted to inspire like he inspired me.   I graduated in 1994 from the University of North Texas with a bachelor’s in Fine Arts with a minor in education.  I taught at the high school level for two years and then met my husband.  In 2000, we moved back to my home town and I began working for Northside Independent School District. I taught art for 17 years at the Elementary level.  I left teaching to open my own event planning business in 2017.  During that time, a series of personal events happened on top of the pandemic in which my neighbors rallied around me.  To thank them, I decided to break out my paints and do some paintings of their pets.  This is when one of them pushed me to begin working by commission and paint people’s pets.  With all the turmoil of 2018 and beyond, my husband, son, and I moved out to Bulverde in 2020 and I began working for Comal ISD at Spring Branch Middle School.  I love teaching art to my students and when the opportunity arises to paint a pet portrait or even people, I relish the time and am honored by the opportunity to create a piece for their loved ones.
