Program Description

Event Details

Join us for a conversation with artist Diane Parker, whose work will be featured in the library's hallway exhibit from November 15th through December 15th. You may know Diane if you have attended one of the many art classes she has taught at the library. We will hear about Diane's artistic process, including what inspires her creativity and how she creates her paintings. Diane will then lead the group in a tour of the pieces she selected for the hallway exhibit. There will also be time for attendees to ask questions during this interactive session.

About the Artist:

Diane Parker uses color as the most important element to express her vision and passion for painting.  Her works are inspired by the masters of the Renaissance and Post-impressionist like Van Gogh and Gauguin.  Ms. Parker received her degree in Art Education and a Masters in Painting.  She also studied painting and drawing at Instituto de Allende in San Miguel, Mexico.  She taught Art History for six years on a national educational network and has coordinated children’s art programs at the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio.  She served as President of the San Antonio Women’s Caucus for Art and has judged and curated numerous art shows and contests.  After teaching art to high school students for over 17 years, Ms. Parker is currently working to continue her exploration and love of painting.
